The original Superior Welding Shop in Hutchinson, Kansas is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year and is still going strong. The company was started in 1917 by Hugh Glass who offered welding services and machine work. However, after 5 years, Glass also began teaching welding and producing his own boilers.
By 1945, Glass brought his sons into the business, changing the company to Superior Boiler. The company employed ten workers and became a mainstay of the local economy. With the growing demands for welders, it seems that some things haven’t really changed in 100 years.
