Weld My World - Welding News

New Welding Process Reduces Bacteria

The biggest barrier to a career in welding is a lack of training. Many manufacturing and equipment companies are looking for experienced welders who are ready to step onto the job ready to go. That’s especially true in Pennsylvania, where residents are struggling to find work while companies are struggling to find qualified workers.

That’s when the Franklin County Area Development Corporation President L. Michael Ross began working with companies and training centers to help connect employers with employees. Elisa Ramsey is one of the welding instructors using state of the art welding equipment to prepare her students for steady careers in welding.

New Welding Process Reduces Bacteria
“Owing to the improper welds of pipes and tubes servicing the food and beverage industry that results in them being more susceptible to the growth of micro bacteria and organisms, industrial product supplier Actum Industrial says the high-quality end results of its Orbitalum orbital cutting, bevelling and welding machines reduce the microbial growth of bacteria.”

Welding Education

Donation Makes Welding Expansion Possible
“Before his death in 2000 at the age of 91, Mervin R. Eighmy established a foundation which pledged steadfast support to Nebraska agriculture, youth, and education.

Today, that philanthropic plan laid out by Eighmy, a Custer County ranch owner, animal scientist and president of Gooch Feed Mill, is as strong as the steel welds forged by students at a rural Nebraska college.”

Phoenix Welding Program Expands
“The Universal Technical Institute expanded its new Welding Technology program to the UTI-Avondale campus in the Phoenix area. Student and employer interest in the program is high in anticipation of classes scheduled to begin in January 2018.

‘UTI-Avondale will be the second UTI campus to offer the Welding Technology program, and more will follow,’ said Michael Romano, UTI-Avondale campus president. ‘This is an expansion strategy that supports student enrollment growth, improves the utilization of our facilities and enables us to better meet the needs of employers. Skilled welders are in demand, so UTI is proud to provide yet another avenue for students to get the skills they need for a rewarding career.’”
