Weekly Welding Roundup–A Passion for Creative Welding

Josie Hunter took a welding class in high school purely by chance, but it didn’t take long for her to realize that she had stumbled onto a passion for her life. Hunter now welds just about any kind of metal together for custom artwork, creating flowers, an alligator, and an octopus.

The road forward hasn’t always been easy for Hunter, as she had to endure tired arms and blisters while working with her 2400 degree forge, but she sees her business growing in the coming years. Her custom designs are for sale and she also takes orders for custom welding sculptures.

‘He saw something in me that others did not, and he taught me how to persevere and to be successful at work, for this I am thankful,’ Underwood wrote in his nomination. Welding Gone Wrong

Welding Fire Contained Quickly in Auto Shop
“Crews with the Baton Rouge Fire Department were called to Arnold’s Car Care Center on Greenwell Springs Road around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Firefighters arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the building.

Fire officials say the blaze started after a welding machine malfunctioned, then went up in flames. The fire was contained within 10 minutes.”

Welding Business Consumed in Fire
“Dixon Rural Fire Captain Isaac Dimmig said the department received the fire call at 3:01 p.m.

‘It was in a garage out back of the house. It was a detached garage, and the fire didn’t get to the house. We had six departments involved,’ Dimmig said.”
