Almost everything 18-year-old Logan Kotar knows about welding he learned from his mother, JoAnna. She is the ag-education instructor at Hysham High School, in Hysham, Mont., and he has been in her classes, including her welding courses.

“Without the stimulus money we’d be probably laying off half of our guys,” he said.
New Facility Creates New Jobs in Pittsburg, CA
President Obama said the public and private sectors need to find more ways to create jobs as the country pulls out of the recession.

Former Vestas workers weld a bright future
SPARKS have flown for 24 former Vestas workers, who have embarked on a specialist welding course with IW-based firm South Fabrications.
The move is a joint initiative between the Newport company and City College Southampton to train the workers as specialist aluminium welders.

Welders need to start younger in SA, says champion after trials
YOUNG South African welders have the training and equipment needed to be world-class – but they need to be able to start practical work earlier in their school careers, says 2009 Young Welder of the Year Louis Steynberg of Eastcape Midlands College.
He was speaking on his return from World Skills Calgary 2009, which saw more than 800 people under 23 from dozens of countries.
