If you're like me, you've been looking at your calendar and planning all your trips, conferences, and "life in general" for 2012. Don't overlook the opportunities for education, collaboration, and networking. Here I've compiled some of the top welding conferences, expositions, and trade shows for 2012. When you register don't forget to mention any associations you're a member of. Some conferences have discounted rates for union/American Welding Society members.
To be held at the Toronto Congress Centre in October, the event is organized by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Manufacturing EXPO: Putting a Face on Manufacturing
To be held February 14th and 15th, the event in Cleveland Ohio will be at the Manufacturing Mart at the Galleria at Erieview. The event will be attended by engineers and industrial buyers. The What's New Gallery is sure to be a hit.
14th Annual Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show
March 21-24 in Indianapolis Indiana you'll find the Lucas Oil Stadium filled with muscle cars, hot rods, street rods, roadsters, and more. See engine building; hear from restorers, shop owners, and fabricators. The huge indoor marketplace is where you'll find hot rod enthusiasts and major buyers.
AISTech 2012 Iron and Steel Technology Conference and Exposition
Steel's premier technology event will be May 7-10 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The expo will feature international technologies and address how to compete in a global marketplace. Attendees will enjoy choosing from hundreds of technical presentations and networking opportunities.
International Manufacturing Technology Show
Chicago's McCormick Place will be hosting IMTS September 10-15. The industrial trade show expects 82,000 visitors. The show is divided into pavilions that group similar industries, technologies, and solutions. Students will enjoy career exploration and everyone will enjoy 83 years of IMTS history.
November will be here before you know it and with it will come FABTECH. The Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada will be hosting the event November 12-14. The event will highlight metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing. The expo will present products, resources, and ideas to help businesses operate leaner and boost productivity. Dates for FABTECH Canada and FABTECH Mexico can also be found on the site.
The Energy Boom: Get on the Bandwagon
This American Welding Society event will be in San Diego June 12th and 13th. You'll see technologies "showing up in nuclear power plants, in coal-fired utilities, and especially in the new 1,700 mile long pipelines designed to bring oil and natural gas to American markets." Plus see hybrid welding processes, new filler metals, and more.
International Electron Beam Welding Conference
The American Welding Society has teamed up with the German Welding Society to bring scientists, engineers, and technical personnel together in Aachen, Germany March 26-30. The collaborative conference hopes to further research, development, and application of electron beam processes.
